Imagine If–What Will Life Look Like When You’re Thriving?

Today I want to invite you to engage your imagination.

Using your imagination may be as natural to you as breathing. For some, you’ve been told the imagination is a road to debauchery. Others of you haven’t used your imagination for yourself for far too long. I know it may feel like a big risk to imagine, dream and play but I promise you it’s a risk worth taking.

What about giving yourself permission today to simply play with paper, scissors and glue? Nothing fancy or too messy.

All you need you may already have around the apartment or house.

My first coach, Kathy Vick of Run Like a Girl,  gave me this optional activity as a way to engage my imagination again.

Collage

  • a blank (no lines) piece of paper; preferably larger than a sheet of printer paper
  • a few magazines, paint chips from Home Depot or Lowe’s, fabric scraps, etc.
  • glue

Now using those materials, use your imagination to create a visual collage of elements that will be in your life when you’re thriving.

I can’t find a picture of mine; it’s buried in 100’s of grandchildren photos! But I’ll do my best to describe it.

I used a piece of manila colored packing paper as the background. I save those for unknown reasons but it was useful then! I tore into old Real Simple magazines (I had a subscription back in 2009 and couldn’t bear to part with them!) I picked solid color samples, pictures of horses, gardens, birds, the ocean, trees, books, (are you seeing a theme here?) Even as I chose those pictures I was growing my awareness of what would be life-giving to me; what would be a part of my life when I was thriving again.

Your turn.

Action step: create a collage of elements that will be part of your life when you’re thriving. Photos posted in our group are 100% invited and welcomed!
