What’s in Your Toolbox?

When you’re preparing to go on a trip, do you have a packing list?

When a contractor prepares to build a lot of planning goes into measuring, drawing, gathering needed materials.

You’ve started this 40-day journey to the New Year with intention. So, what’s in your toolbox to help you thrive?

Here are some questions to help you assess what you already have available to you on this journey.

  • What are some of your intellectual practices? Do you play sudoku? Crossword puzzles? Word games such as boggle?
  • What are some of your emotional practices? Do you journal? Draw, paint, craft or take photos for the pleasure of capturing a scene? Do you have spiritual practices you regularly engage in?
  • What are some of your physical practices? Strength building like yoga, pilates or weight training? Cardio like running, hiking or simply walking on the beach with friends? Sleep habits? Eating habits?

Chances are you see some tools in place and are reminded of some you’re missing. This journey isn’t about all the stuff you need to do. For too long I’ve tried and failed to keep all the things going all at the same time and all the time. This journey is intended to grow your awareness, give you tools to equip you to go further with grace for yourself, so that you will thrive in this next decade.

Action Step: identify one area in each center of intelligence (head, heart, body) that you want to learn to incorporate on a regular basis. Write them down next to today’s date.

    1) Daily, scheduled Meditation 2X/day for my Mind
    2) Intentional and radical Gratitude and Compassion for my Heart
    3) 25 minutes (minimum) of raise-my-heart rate physical exercise every single day—no exceptions—for my Body.

P.S. To honor one of my core values I intend to include lots of Music to accompany my Meditation and exercise practices!:-)

I love your specificity, Ann! When we get specific like this our actions and intentions can bring our ideas, (dare I say dreams?) into reality. Yay for getting specific! Lisa
