Each day of this 40-day Journey you’ll need encouragement. Each day of your life you need encouragement actually. You might be already aware of the places you go for those encouraging feelings but why do we need them?
Simple answer? We’re wired that way.
Complex answer? Our brains need four specific neurotransmitters to keep us in the happy zone where we look forward to what lies ahead, are able to take on new challenges and experience a sense of contentment and accomplishment even when something doesn’t work out exactly as we hoped. Each of member of this neurotransmitter quartet is stimulated through activity and diet. Endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin are vital to our mental/emotional states.
What does this brain information have to do with the topic of “grow your awareness”?
Simply stated, we need to know what our starting point is before we can set off toward the goal of intentionally finishing 2019 well. Growing your awareness means taking inventory of what your mental, emotional and physical states are currently. How do we do that? By honestly answering these types of questions:
When you think about the day ahead, what images come to mind?
What physically happens in your body when you feel anxious?
What emotion words do you use for your use of time?
What do you do for fun?
When was the last time you did nothing?
How often to you drink water? Exercise? Eat reasonably?
How much sleep do you get? What is the quality?
These types of questions sound like an inventory when you go to the doctor for an annual physical. They’re geared to get you thinking about topics you often take for granted. We don’t have to wait to go to the doctor to invest in our self-awareness. We can learn to check in with ourselves by paying attention to your three centers of intelligence: Head, Heart, and Body. Think about those three words and look back at those questions. Which ones are head questions? Which ones are heart focused questions? Body questions?
Your whole self, head, heart & body already has knowledge of what you need. During this 40-day journey you’ll encounter new tools and applications to further develop your intelligences. Why does this matter? You want to grow and be equipped to thrive in order to move forward into 2020 with renewed confidence, purpose and dare I say, passion for life.
Let’s G.E.T. Moving!
Action step: What center of intelligence do you think or feel you are most equipped? Why do you think or feel that is the case?

I believe that my Mind is the most equipped center of intelligence—and often does not function as my Friend.:-) i”ve spent many years studying brain science trying to make sense of the way my Mind functions and generates Thought, and now my commitment is to practice Mindfulness through daily Meditation for the next 40 days. I shall reflect daily upon Scripture and other Holy Writings, pray, and practice radical Gratitude, Listening and Compassion to set the tone for my Meditation practices. I shall journal/write about this Journey. Thank you, Lisa, for this opportunity to focus—within a Community—on the integration of my Mind, Heart, and Body in order to serve better my Creator God and my world.

These specific intentions are a beautiful response to the question of how can you grow your awareness dear Ann. You are such a gifted communicator; I can’t wait to hear what your mindfulness meditations bring to the surface on this journey! Blessings Big Sister! Lisa
